Tie Fighter
600,000 |
The TIE/Ln Fighter forms the backbone of the Imperial Fighter Corps. Designed to replace the aging TIE Fighter, the TIE/Ln is extremely fast and maneuverable. It is a superior fighter of its time and can defeat the Y-wing and Z-95 Headhunter in most engagements.
TIE/ln Fighters were first bested in combat by the Incom T-65 X-wing starfighter. Such engagements have resulted in TIE/Ln pilots engaging Rebel X-wings with a minimum of three-to-one odds in their favor as Standard Procedure.
Built to replace an older fighter, the TIE/Ln is itself feeling the pressure to perform in an increasingly deadly combat environment. Millions of these fighters were constructed, and contracts exist for millions more, so it will be some years before the TIE/Ln is completely phased out. However, TIE/Ln pilots know that given the vastly superior performance of such craft as the TIE Interceptor, it is only a matter of time before their beloved fighter is limited to mere training duties.
Like all TIE ships, it has a titanium alloy hull and quadanium steel armored solar panels. Also, like other TIE ships, it is built exclusively from Seinar Fleet Systems components, and has no primary life support systems. The TIE/Ln's standard payload consists of twin high-speed blaster cannon; It is a short range starfighter, requiring a nearby base of operations from which to obtain fuel and guidance. |

Tie Bomber
800,000 |
The TIE Bomber was developed to replace the aging TIE/gt fighter. It features a double hull capable of carrying a lethal load of missiles, space bombs, orbital mines, or free-falling thermal detonators. After the Battle of Yavin, and a two year replacement operation of the TIE/gt, the TIE Bomber became the primary space bomber in the Imperial Navy.
The TIE Bomber excels at surgical placement of ordinance, picking out small targets on planetary surfaces or on enemy ships. In contrast with full-scale naval bombardment which leaves only rubble behind, the TIE Bomber can selectively destroy military targets while leaving commercial or military assets untouched. This makes them much more accurate than many capital ships. With its small size and relatively high speed, the TIE Bomber can often slip past defense systems set up to watch for larger craft. It suffers in maneuverability, due to its double hulled configuration, but when complemented by TIE Fighters or TIE Interceptors, it makes a lethal enemy. |

Tie Interceptor
1,000,000 |
Notes: Shortly before the series of events culminating in the Battle of Yavin, members of the Imperial Starfighter Corps demanded an improved fighter to counter the new Rebel X-Wing. Using data gathered from combat sensor recordings of Rebel fighters and experience with the TIE X series, Sienar Fleet Systems designed several new fighters. The best known, most common and most popular of these is the TIE Interceptor.
The TIE Interceptor is 11% faster than the TIE/Ln Fighter , and has a stronger hull. It still retains the command module of the TIE Fighter series, but with several improvements, including a new ion stream projection system, with nearly twice the range of maneuvering. The solar panels are not as tall, but have been elongated, with cut-outs made in the wings for pilot visibility. This "dagger" profile has the added advantage of being more intimidating. At the tip of each "dag" there is a laser cannon, giving the TIE Interceptor firepower comparable to the X-Wing, and the improved fire control software makes it just as accurate. The hardpoints found on the TIE Fighter series are still there, and could be fitted with additional blaster weapons if a more powerful generator, or supplemental generators, ware installed. These hardpoints are generally fitted with either concussion missiles or ECM pods, depending on the mission at hand.
Introduced just a few months after the Battle of Yavin, the TIE Interceptor was a common sight within a year, and composed 20% of the combat Ties in service by the time of the Battle of Endor. The basic design is highly versatile and served as the basis for the TIE Defender and TIE Advanced. It is expected that when numbers are sufficient, the TIE Interceptor will replace the TIE/Ln Fighter in Imperial front-line service.

Assault Gunboat
1,250,000 |
After the development of the Lambda Class T-4a Shuttle, the Naval High Command awarded Cygnus Spaceworks a contract to develop the Empire's premier assault fighter. The Alpha XG-1 Star Wing was the result. Due to its unique five-wing design, the Star Wing, or Assault Gunboat is at home in either vacuum or atmosphere. The wing design can easily adjust to many conditions, thanks in part to a revolutionary computer system by Miradyne.
The Star Wing was designed for offensive strike missions against convoy craft and fleet vessels. Its fire power and heavy shielding make it ideal for escort roles as well, and as an assault vehicle in conjunction with an assault transport, it is unmatched.
The Star Wing became quite popular among its pilots and production grew to the point where most Imperator Class Star Destroyers were equipped with five Assault Gunboats. The Assault Gunboat was also the base design for the Gamma Class XM-1 Missile Boat which would play a vital role in the year or so before the Massacre of Endor. |

I-7 Howlrunner
1,250,000 |
A starfighter designed for the Empire around the time of Emperor Palpatine's rebirth on Byss, it surprisingly came to the Empire from Incom, a perennial supplier of Rebel starfighters. It has been nicknamed for the Kamarian Howlrunner. It resembles a streamlined T-47 airspeeder in shape, being a long, wedge-shaped craft with a rectangular midsection.
Little is known about the I-7's performance in battle, although initial engagements during the struggle against the clones of Emperor Palpatine on Byss suggest that has excellent maneuverability and can take a lot of punishment.
The ship measures 11.4 meters in length, and is armed with a pair of laser cannons. It was the first major starfighter design to come from the nationalized Incom Corporation, in response to the Kuat Drive Yards A-9 Vigilance Interceptor and the FreiTek E-Wing. |

Missile Boat
1,600,000 |
The XM-1 Missile Boat design was strongly based on the Cygnus Spaceworks Assault Gunboat with the idea in mind of achieving superiority over the TIE Defender through use of speed and overwhelming firepower.
The Gamma Class XM-1 Missile Boat is an extremely fast and agile fighter, considering its size. Speed can be increased by up to 200% by a revolutionary engine technology developed by the Empire called the SLAM system or Sub-Light Acceleration Motor. Simply put, they operate by drawing immense amounts of energy from the laser cannons to the engines. Since the Missile Boat had only one laser cannon, this energy didn't last very long, but it allowed the fighter to achieve speeds in excess of 350 MGLT. |

Tie Advanced
2,000,000 |
Shortly before the series of events culminating in the Debacle at Yavin, members of the Imperial Starfighter Corps demanded an improved fighter to counter the new Rebel X-Wing. Using data gathered from combat sensor recordings of Rebel fighters and experience with the TIE X series, Sienar Fleet Systems designed several new fighters. This fighter sports concepts pioneered in the earlier TIE Advanced x1, and represents a major design shift for Sienar Fleet Systems. The TIE/Advanced is blindingly fast and extremely manuverable, more so even than its cousin the TIE Interceptor. It is also exceptionally well-armed, with four second-class cannon and a pair of advanced concussion missile launchers. Perhaps the biggest departure however was in its defensive and hyperlight propulsion capabilities; the TIE Avenger was the first production TIE fighter to mount shields or a hyperdrive system. This was seen by many as a tacit admission that the Imperial starfighters of the day were inherently inferior to their shielded, hyperdrive capable counterparts in the Rebel Alliance. In the end, the TIE Avenger has seen only a modest production run in spite of its superior performance; Imperial planners have chosen for the time being to pursue the development of the more traditional (and much less expensive) TIE Interceptor instead. |

Tie Phantom
2,500,000 |
The Phantom-TIE was an experimental starfighter equipped with a cloaking shield. Introduced when the standard TIE-Fighter dominated the Imperial fighter fleet and the TIE-Interceptor was just entering service, the Phantom-TIE represented a significant advance in Imperial starfighter capability and technology. Unlike the other TIE variants, the Phantom-TIE had a 2-man crew and was equipped with full life-support as well as shields and a hyperdrive. It was armed with 3 laser-cannons and 2 warhead launchers. Provisions were also made to add a pair on ion-cannons as operational needs dictated.
All the Phantom-TIEs produced as well as all the plans and toolings were destroyed, as well as the Super Star Destroyer that served as their base-ship by Rebel agents. Later, after the decline of the Empire, an assault version designated the V-38 was produced in small numbers. This version was identical to the original Phantom-TIE except that the V-38 did not incorporate a cloaking device. However, by that time the Phantom-TIE's performance had been eclipsed by the new generation of Imperial fighters such as the TIE-Avenger, TIE-Defender and the Missileboat. |

Tie Defender
3,000,000 |
This new TIE fighter is one of the most deadly Sienar Fleet Systems designs produced to date. It is one of the most heavily armed Imperial Starfighters ever, with four second-class cannon and twin ion cannon mounts, coupled with Advanced Concussion Missile launchers for unmatched dogfighting lethality. It is also among the fastest and most agile starfighters in the Imperial Arsenal; with advanced engines and an extra set of manuvering thrusters on its third wing assembly, the TIE Defender is capable of loops and turns that would put a TIE Interceptor to shame. It also carries a single tractor beam microemitter for use against more agile starfighters such as the A-Wing or E-Wing, reducing their ability to evade the Defender's guns considerably. |

Skipray Blastboat
6,000,000 |
Primarily used as a patrol or assault gunship, serving well on fleet point missions with or without support. The GAT-12h was introduced shortly before the Battle of Yavin, and was not immediately purchased by the Empire. So, Sienar Fleet Systems began selling them on the open market, where they were snapped up quickly by pirate and mercenary fleets. They never became as popular as TIE Fighters, and became obsolete in the mind of the Empire. The S/B has rear-mounted engines, and a ventral fin for stability.
More designs of this assault fighter was developed, including the GAT-12j introduced shortly after the death of Emperor Palpatine. This third generation of the blastboat had larger ammunition bays for its missiles, allowing 12 proton torpedoes or 18 concussion missiles. |
